Try Youth As Youth

Weinberg/ Newton Gallery (formerly David Weinberg Photography) is a nonprofit gallery in Chicago committed to educating and informing the public about issues of social justice. The gallery serves as a hub for initiatives committed to community and educational development by way of programming that is uniquely integral to each exhibition, including panel discussions, film screenings and more.

An exhibition by The ACLU of Illinois and Weinberg/ Newton Gallery (formerly David Weinberg Photography) that examines the juvenile justice system in America through an exhibit of photography, sculpture and video installation. Aiming to shed light on the lives of incarcerated youth, the Try Youth As Youth exhibition featured works by four artists: Tirtza Even, Richard Ross, Steve Davis, and Steve Liss, who share a dedication to institutional reform of the systems that far too often dehumanize young people and fail to provide them with constitutionally adequate conditions and services.
